Last week Ulla Engberg a journalist from Sweden came to visit the school. She is preparing a radio programme on minority languages and she came to ask our pupils about the success of Welsh Education and how the language is thriving.

On Wednesday 30th January 2013, Mike Phillips visited Ysgol Gyfun Bro Morgannwg and a question and answer session was held in the school hall with members of the school’s sports teams.

The school’s Christmas Fair was held on Wednesday 19th December. This year it was decided that it would be a Fair Trade Fair. The Years 10 & 12 pupils studying the Welsh Baccalaureate were in charge of the stalls.

Each group was given £20 and their challenge was to generate as much profit as possible, by using Fair Trade goods where possible.

Staff and pupils attended the fair and it was a big success. The pupils succeeded in raising £240.37 profit for the charity of their choice. The group that made the most profit was Rhys James, Mason Good, Tom Andrews, Daniel Gibbons and Scott Bevan from year 12.

On the 11th December an evening of Christmas entertainment was held in the school’s new coffee shop by the PTA (CRYF). As part of the evening Fair Trade refreshments were available, including mulled wine, tea and coffee.

A very big thank you to Alun Cairns M.P and to the Headteachers from our Primary Schools for their valued support at the recent Award Ceremony on Tuesday Evening 18th December. It was a successful evening once again with the school hall full of pupils, past pupils and their families all here to celebrate their exam success.
