Why study BTEC business?
The BTEC Business course is an opportunity to learn about the world of business and to research the environment that businesses operate in. The course is a good choice for several reasons but primarily the qualification will open doors to a career in a wide range of industries because business is the foundation to almost every job you will have in the future – from starting your own enterprise to working for a charity.
The BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate is a vocational qualification which is relevant to the world of work. That doesn’t mean to say that that you will gain all of the necessary skills that are needed to do a job, but it does mean that you will get the opportunity to gain specific knowledge, understanding and relevant skills for your future career.
What is the course content?
In the first year (year 10) three units are achieved and in the second year (year 11) another two or three units are completed which will lead to a BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate, a total of 30 Credits. Pupils of all abilities are welcome on the course but each application will be considered individually.
Key skills are an integral part of your BTEC Business studies with a number of opportunities for using them in preparing the assessed tasks. Key skills include communication, numeracy, IT and problem solving skills, working with others, improving own learning and performance.
